Srinagar, October 27, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) has ushered in a new era of learning in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to a remarkable improvement in the performance and outlook of government schools across the Union Territory.
Speaking at an event held at Kothi Bagh Higher Secondary School in Srinagar, the LG highlighted that NEP has shifted the focus from rote learning to innovation, creativity, and holistic education. “The performance of government schools is improving remarkably with the successful implementation of NEP,” he said.
Sinha emphasised that the J&K Government is determined to bring government schools on par with the best private institutions by strengthening infrastructure, upgrading teaching methodologies, and fostering all-round development. “Our goal is not only academic excellence but the overall growth of every child. We must identify and nurture their inherent talent so they can excel in their chosen fields,” he added.
The LG underscored the importance of a multidisciplinary and skill-based approach, encouraging schools to focus on critical thinking, innovation, and practical learning rather than merely producing degree-holders. “The time has come to move beyond traditional mindsets. We must equip students with multiple skills and prepare them to face the challenges of the 21st century with confidence,” he stated.
Highlighting the outstanding performance of girls in J&K’s education sector, Sinha noted that female students have been consistently excelling in academics, sports, and cultural activities. “Girls in Jammu and Kashmir are leading by example. Their achievements are a source of pride and inspiration for all,” he remarked.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue strengthening the education ecosystem — from modern classrooms and digital learning to teacher training and student empowerment — ensuring that no child is left behind in the journey toward progress.
The LG concluded by asserting that truth, transparency, and transformation remain the core principles of J&K’s education reforms.
