SRINAGAR, November 25, 2025 : The Jammu & Kashmir Handicrafts and Handloom Department is set to celebrate the region’s rich craft legacy by conferring the UT Artisan Awards 2024 on 38 outstanding artisans and weavers from across the Union Territory. The ceremony will take place today at the scenic SKICC Auditorium.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, who also heads the Industries & Commerce Department, will present the awards in the presence of Commissioner/Secretary Vikramjit Singh.
Spotlight on Excellence in Craft
A total of 20 artisans from Kashmir and 18 from Jammu will be honoured for excellence in various traditional crafts.
Each award includes a citation and cash prize of:

₹50,000 – First

₹30,000 – Second
-
₹20,000 – Third
The department confirmed that all arrangements are complete for the gala event at SKICC.
Honouring J&K’s Craft Heritage
Acknowledging artisans as the backbone of the region’s cultural identity, the department reiterated that the awards symbolize the government’s ongoing efforts to:

Preserve J&K’s globally renowned handicraft traditions
The spokesman noted that local artisans consistently excel at the national level by securing Padma Awards and Shilp Guru Awards, and continue to win appreciation on the international stage.
Looking Ahead
The department also announced that the selection process for the 2025 UT Artisan Awards is already underway.
