Jammu, March 23, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that appointment letters have been issued to 438 families affected by terrorism since 2025, describing the initiative as a step towards restoring dignity and justice.
Addressing a gathering in Jammu, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the number represents not just statistics but lives deeply impacted by violence. “These are not merely figures—these are shattered worlds where laughter was replaced by silence,” he said, highlighting the long struggle of families who lost their loved ones.
During the event, LG Sinha handed over appointment letters to 37 next of kin of terror victims and 29 next of kin of government employees who lost their lives in service.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment, he said that ensuring justice for terror-affected families goes beyond punishment of perpetrators and includes healing emotional wounds and providing economic support.
“I pledge that we will work with full commitment to secure dignified and honourable lives for these families. We will not rest until justice reaches every household affected by terrorism,” he stated.
The Lieutenant Governor also underlined that, for decades, such families were neglected while elements linked to terror networks allegedly enjoyed protection. He termed it a failure that weakened trust and the moral fabric of society.
However, he noted that in the past five to six years, the ecosystem supporting terrorism has been systematically dismantled. He added that individuals with direct links to terror who had secured government jobs are being identified and removed from service.
Highlighting the broader vision, LG Sinha said the ongoing efforts mark a shift towards a system that stands firmly with victims, ensuring recognition, justice, and long-overdue support.
