Srinagar, September 6, 2025 : Peoples’ Conference chairman Sajad Lone on Saturday appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir administration to grant special casual leave for Muslim employees on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
While the festival is being observed across J&K today as per the Islamic calendar, the UT administration had declared Friday as the official holiday under its annual holiday calendar and did not reschedule the date.
In a post on X, Lone urged the government to allow leave for employees, noting that such adjustments are a routine practice for restricted holidays.
Meanwhile, the National Conference, led by former CM Omar Abdullah, slammed the administration for what it called a “deliberate and inconsiderate” decision not to shift the holiday, alleging it was designed to “hurt public sentiments.”
