Jammu, Sep 11, 2025 : Jammu & Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra strongly criticized the imposition of the Public Safety Act (PSA) on AAP MLA Mehraj Malik, calling it “a direct attack on democracy.”
Prohibitory orders and heightened security were imposed in Doda after clashes broke out between protesters and forces over Malik’s detention.
Karra, visiting flood-hit RS Pura, said, “Both sides should have exercised restraint. Applying PSA on an elected representative is fundamentally wrong.” He described the situation as a tussle between bureaucracy and democracy and urged the government to adopt dialogue and mutual understanding.
