Jammu, September 16, 2025 : The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Monday deployed a helicopter to airdrop essential ration supplies to Sarhi village in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, which was cut off due to multiple landslides triggered by heavy rains.
The landslides blocked the Reasi–Sarhi (via Tote) road, and the Thathi bridge on the alternative Udhampur–Sarhi route via Moungri was washed away, isolating the village.
Reasi Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik said the coordinated effort between the district administration and the IAF ensured that essential commodities reached the residents despite the difficult terrain and adverse weather.
“So far, 25 quintals of ration have been delivered, and the exercise will continue as long as weather permits,” she added.
Although ration stocks are currently adequate, precautionary steps are being taken to prevent shortages.
The DC also confirmed that the reconstruction of Thathi Bridge is underway with support from the Army, while alternative routes and manual transportation methods are being explored to improve access.
