Budgam, September 18, 2025 : Railway authorities on Thursday announced that the Vastodom Special Train will run between Budgam and Katra for a period of 15 days, providing much-needed relief to passengers amid the closure of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway.
An official said the train number 74688 Vastodom Special will remain in service from September 19 to October 3, 2025, coinciding with the period of highway shutdown.
“The decision has been taken to facilitate local passengers who are facing difficulties due to the closure of the national highway. The service is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for commuters and devotees traveling towards Katra during this time,” the official stated.
Authorities further added that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure smooth operations and meet the expected travel demand on this route. The move is expected to significantly ease travel challenges for thousands of residents and pilgrims.
