SRINAGAR, September 19, 2025 : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg (IAS), on Friday announced that the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway (NH-44) is nearing full restoration after weeks of disruption, with traffic movement running smoothly for the past four consecutive days.

Fruit Transportation: Nearly 5,500 trucks carrying fresh fruit have successfully crossed towards Jammu in the last two days, using both the National Highway and Mughal Road, ensuring timely evacuation of Valley produce.

Essential Supplies: Garg said the supply of essential commodities has been uninterrupted since Friday morning, helping stabilize the situation.

Fuel Shortages to End: He assured that the shortage of petrol and diesel reported in some districts will be resolved completely by Friday evening.

Appeal Against Panic Buying: The Divisional Commissioner urged the public to remain calm and avoid unnecessary hoarding.
“From this evening, the situation will ease considerably, and people will see clear improvement wherever shortages were reported,” he said.
The Divisional Commissioner emphasized that coordinated efforts between traffic police, civil administration, and other stakeholders have ensured faster restoration of supplies, bringing relief to fruit growers, traders, and the general public.
