Srinagar, September 20, 2025 : Minister for Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the functioning and progress of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) across Jammu and Kashmir. The review covered infrastructure, academic performance, staffing, and student welfare.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Tribal Affairs, Principals of EMRSs, and senior officers of the department.
Key Highlights:

Infrastructure: Progress of ongoing works under approved DPRs was reviewed. Rana directed timely completion of construction projects and expedited pending land transfers.

Academics: Emphasis on enhancing classroom teaching, co-curricular engagement, and learning environment to improve student outcomes.

Staffing: The Minister stressed filling gaps in teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure smooth functioning.

Student Welfare: Directed that residential facilities be maintained in line with quality standards, ensuring a safe and conducive hostel environment.
Rana reiterated the transformative role of EMRSs in empowering tribal youth through inclusive and quality education. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening these schools as centres of excellence for tribal education in J&K.
