SRINAGAR, September 23, 2025: National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have addressed the issue of restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood in his national address instead of focusing only on GST reforms.
“You are talking about GST, it would have been better had you (Modi) talked about our statehood in the speech,” Abdullah told reporters in Srinagar.
He said every citizen of J&K is hopeful that the Supreme Court, which is set to hear the matter in October, will deliver justice and restore statehood.
On JKLF chairman Yasin Malik’s case, Abdullah reiterated that the matter must be left to the courts.
Calling governance in J&K like “walking on a razor’s edge,” Abdullah also reacted to the detention of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik, terming his language against an officer “unparliamentary” but said invoking PSA was wrong.
