Jammu, September 24, 2025 : J&K Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakina Itoo, virtually addressed the 10th National Ayurveda Day celebrations organised by the Directorate of Ayush at the Convention Centre, Jammu.
Highlighting Ayurveda as one of the oldest and most effective systems of holistic healthcare, the Minister said:
“Ayurveda embodies India’s cultural wisdom, offering a lifestyle and healthcare model deeply connected to nature. The theme ‘Ayurveda for People and Planet’ reminds us that the health of individuals and the environment are inseparable. It is our duty to preserve this knowledge and make it accessible to every household.”
She urged participants to launch dedicated awareness campaigns on the benefits of Ayurveda, stressing that the celebrations would be meaningful only when the message reaches the common masses in every district, panchayat, and locality of J&K.
The Minister noted that Ayurvedic medicines have minimal side effects compared to general medicines, underscoring the need to promote trust and awareness among the people.
She further lauded the Directorate of Ayush, J&K, for expanding services and connecting traditional systems with the youth through education and outreach. She called for greater public outreach, capacity building, and extension of Ayush facilities to every corner of the Union Territory.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar emphasised Ayush’s role in tackling lifestyle disorders, while Secretary Health Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed said Ayurveda’s preventive and wellness-focused approach is vital in addressing modern health challenges.
