NEW DELHI, October 5, 2025 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against four individuals, including operatives linked to the Khalistani terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), for their alleged involvement in a grenade attack on the residence of former Punjab minister and BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar.
The chargesheet, filed before a Chandigarh court on Saturday, names two arrested accused — Saidul Ameen of Amroha (Uttar Pradesh) and Abhijot Jangra of Kurukshetra (Haryana) — along with two absconders, Kulbir Singh Sidhu of Yamunanagar and Manish alias Kaka Rana of Karnal (Haryana).
The attack took place on the night of April 7, 2025, and the NIA took over the investigation on April 12.
According to the agency, Sidhu, a BKI operative, and his associate Manish had formed a terror module to target prominent political leaders in Punjab with the aim of spreading fear and raising funds for the banned outfit through extortion.
“Manish subsequently recruited Ameen, who hurled the grenade at the former minister’s house. The weapon was supplied by Sidhu, while Jangra arranged the funds,” the NIA statement said.
Following the attack, Sidhu circulated posters on social media claiming responsibility for the act. The NIA has since issued a Red Corner Notice against him, who also carries a ₹10 lakh bounty on his arrest.
Sidhu was previously chargesheeted in the targeted killing of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar in April 2024.
The NIA stated that efforts are being intensified to apprehend the absconders and identify other members of the Babbar Khalsa network operating within India.
