Leh, October 7, 2025 : Tourism associations in Ladakh have urged the government and banks to announce immediate financial relief following recent unrest in Leh that crippled the region’s tourism sector.
In a joint appeal to the UT-Level Bankers Committee, the All Ladakh Hotel & Guest House Association, All Ladakh Tour Operators Association, and others sought interest-free moratoriums, loan restructuring, and protection from NPA classification, citing severe financial stress.
They said the September 24 violence, which left four dead and dozens injured, has pushed thousands of livelihoods to the brink as the tourism season collapses early.
“Tourism sustains over 70% of Ladakh’s population — without timely financial aid, defaults and closures are inevitable,” the stakeholders warned.
