Kulgam, October 24, 2025 : In a continuing crackdown against drug trafficking networks, Kulgam Police has attached another property belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Shahzad Ahmad Dar, son of Late Mohd Rajab Dar, resident of Vedow Mishipora, under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The accused is involved in FIR No. 62/2021 U/S 8/15-29 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Qaimoh, following the seizure of 520 kilograms of poppy straw from a load carrier. The peddler was subsequently detained under the PIT NDPS Act and is currently lodged at Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu.

Illegally Earned Property Attached

During investigation, Police Station Qaimoh unearthed that the accused had accumulated illegally earned assets worth approximately ₹36 lakh from drug proceeds. The property — a single-storey residential house at Vedow Mishipora — was attached by a police team in the presence of local dignitaries and an Executive Magistrate.

This decisive action forms part of the sustained anti-narcotics campaign led by Kulgam Police to cripple the financial roots of the drug trade and dismantle the networks that profit from narcotics smuggling in the district.

Community Applauds Police Efforts

Local residents appreciated the firm police action, lauding the sustained drive against the drug menace. Many hailed it as a strong deterrent for others engaged in illegal trade and praised the police for their proactive role in safeguarding the youth.

Zero Tolerance Policy Against Drugs

SSP Kulgam, Shri Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS), reiterated the police’s firm resolve to continue such actions with full intensity.

“No one will be allowed to enjoy the proceeds of crime. Our mission is clear — to make Kulgam a drug-free district,” the SSP said.

Kulgam Police has urged citizens to confidentially share information about drug peddlers or trafficking activities with local police stations or through official helplines, emphasizing that community participation is vital in the collective fight against drugs.
