Srinagar, October 25, 2025 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood, Kashmir’s first-ever Chrysanthemum Theme Garden, at the scenic Botanical Garden in Srinagar, marking a major addition to the Union Territory’s floriculture and tourism assets.

Developed at a cost of ₹1.869 crore, the garden spans over 100 kanals, featuring thousands of vibrant chrysanthemums in striking shades of yellow, red, pink, and purple. Designed to be a signature autumn attraction, the garden is expected to extend the Valley’s tourist season beyond the spring months.

Cutting the ceremonial ribbon, the Chief Minister described the new attraction as “a floral celebration that adds a new chapter to Kashmir’s tourism story.”

“The Chrysanthemum Garden will bridge the off-season gap in tourism and offer visitors a reason to explore the Valley in autumn. Just as the Tulip Garden transformed spring tourism, this garden will redefine Kashmir’s autumn landscape,” Omar Abdullah said.

The Chief Minister praised the Department of Floriculture, Parks & Gardens for its dedication in developing the project and commended the department’s broader efforts to promote horticultural and floral diversity across Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion, Omar Abdullah also inaugurated a floral exhibition, showcasing ornamental, lavender, and hybrid blooms cultivated by local growers with departmental support. He interacted with floriculturists and gardeners, acknowledging their craftsmanship and commitment to maintaining Kashmir’s horticultural heritage.

The event was attended by MLA Zadibal Tanveer Sadiq, Additional Chief Secretary to CM Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary Floriculture Zubair Ahmed, Secretary Culture, Director Floriculture Kashmir, and other senior officials.

With Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood now open to the public, officials expect a surge in tourist footfall during the autumn season, highlighting Kashmir’s evolving image as a year-round destination for nature and flower enthusiasts.
