SRINAGAR, October 27, 2025 : The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly descended into chaos on Monday as allegations of cross-voting in the recent Rajya Sabha elections sparked a heated exchange between treasury and opposition benches.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary set off the uproar when he accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of “stealing four votes” during the polls. “Sarei raaz khuul dunga, remain seated here,” Choudhary declared, sending the House into turmoil.
BJP legislators immediately protested, shouting back at National Conference (NC) members, who in turn raised slogans of “Vote chor, vote chor!” (vote stealers) toward BJP MLAs.
Adding fuel to the fire, Peoples Conference President Sajad Gani Lone alleged that both parties were involved in the controversy, calling the election result “a match-fixing between NC and BJP.”
The ruckus forced the Speaker to repeatedly call for order as members traded accusations over the legitimacy of the Rajya Sabha results—marking yet another flashpoint in J&K’s rapidly intensifying political drama.
