Srinagar, November 1, 2025 : In a significant breakthrough, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir arrested a key absconder linked to a Pakistan-sponsored Narco-Terror module of Lashkar-e-Toiba from the Bemina area of Srinagar on Saturday.
The accused, Basharat Ali, son of Mohd Sadeeq and a resident of Tad Karnah, Kupwara, had been evading arrest for the past three years in connection with FIR No. 19/2022 of SIA Kashmir. He was apprehended after sustained intelligence efforts by a special SIA team.
According to officials, the case involves cross-border smuggling of narcotics and weapons, with the proceeds being used to fund terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Basharat is the fourth proclaimed absconder to be arrested in the case, and investigators believe his capture could help expose more connections within the narco-terror network.
The SIA has intensified its drive against narco-terrorism this year, conducting multiple successful operations that led to the arrest of key operatives associated with various terror outfits.
