Jammu, November 6, 2025 : Security forces on Thursday continued a massive cordon and search operation in the forested Chatru belt of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, to trace two to three terrorists believed to be hiding in the area, officials said.
The operation follows an encounter on Wednesday, during which a jawan was injured in an exchange of fire with the terrorists, suspected to be Pakistani nationals, sources added.
“A joint search operation is underway to track down the terrorists. There has been no exchange of fire since yesterday afternoon,” a senior security official confirmed.
The operation is being bolstered with drone surveillance, sniffer dogs, and additional reinforcements to tighten the cordon. Security agencies have stepped up monitoring in Kishtwar, which has witnessed a surge in terrorist activity in recent months.
Kishtwar has reported six encounters in the last seven months, as security forces continue their intensified crackdown on Pakistan-based operatives attempting to revive militancy in the region bordering Doda and Udhampur districts.
