JAMMU, November 21, 2025 : Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, was honoured with the prestigious Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Award 2025 at a ceremony held at the University of Jammu.
During the event, he also released “RASA FAHMI”, a new book authored by Dr. Shahnaz Qadri of GDC Sidhra. The award included a turban, shawl, memento, and citation.
Dignitaries & Proceedings
The function was presided over by Prof. Mohammad Zaman, former Head of the Urdu Department, University of Kashmir. Dr. Taqi Abidi, renowned Canadian scholar, graced the occasion as guest of honour, while Speaker Rather served as the chief guest.
Organised jointly by the University of Jammu’s Urdu Department and the Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society, the programme featured literary discussions, book releases, and tributes to the celebrated poet Rasa Javedani.
Tributes to the Legendary Poet
In his address, Speaker Rather reflected on Javedani’s literary legacy, describing him as one of India’s most influential voices whose relevance endures even 47 years after his passing. He also praised Dr. Qadri’s work for documenting the poet’s life and contributions to both Urdu and Kashmiri literature.
Dr. Taqi Abidi recited verses from Javedani’s works, highlighting themes of harmony and human understanding. Prof. Zaman, in his presidential remarks, lauded Javedani as a towering figure in the literary heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
