SRINAGAR, November 21, 2025 : Security forces on Friday averted a possible terrorist strike after recovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition from a hideout near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said.
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of security forces launched a search operation in the Neeriyan Forest area along the LoC in Handwara. During the sweep, the team uncovered a concealed militant hideout stocked with high-grade weaponry.
Weapons Recovered
According to officials, the recovered arms and ammunition include:

Two M-series (M4) assault rifles

Four M4 magazines

Two Chinese pistols

Three pistol magazines

Two hand grenades

Live rounds and other war-like stores
Police said a case has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway to identify the handlers, routes, and possible targets linked to the hideout.
The recovery, officials added, has successfully foiled a potential terror plot, preventing the weapons from being used to disrupt peace in the region.
