Srinagar, January 23, 2026 : Air traffic to and from Kashmir remained suspended on Friday after all flight operations at Srinagar International Airport were cancelled due to inclement weather conditions, officials said.
Airport authorities stated that continuous snowfall, coupled with accumulation of snow on operational areas and an unfavourable weather forecast along flight routes, forced the cancellation of all scheduled arrivals and departures in the interest of passenger safety.
“In view of continuous snowfall, accumulation of snow on operational areas, and the prevailing forecast of adverse weather en route, all flight operations at Srinagar airport stand cancelled for the day,” airport officials said.
Passengers have been advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates, rescheduling and re-accommodation.
Meanwhile, most parts of the Kashmir Valley witnessed fresh snowfall overnight, including the season’s first snowfall in Srinagar, bringing temperatures down and disrupting normal life in several areas. The Meteorological Department has forecast that the current weather system is likely to continue till Friday evening, with the possibility of further snowfall in higher reaches.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and flight operations are expected to resume only after weather conditions improve and runways are cleared.
