Srinagar, January 23, 2026 : Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, on Friday held an extensive pre-Budget consultation with a broad spectrum of stakeholders from the Kashmir Division, reaffirming the government’s commitment to formulating a people-centric and inclusive Budget.
According to a post by the Office of the Chief Minister on X, the consultation brought together representatives from key sectors including industry, trade, tourism, hospitality, horticulture, agriculture, and academia. The interaction aimed at gathering sector-wise inputs, challenges, and growth-oriented suggestions to ensure that the forthcoming Budget genuinely reflects public aspirations.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of inclusive dialogue and participatory governance, stating that meaningful stakeholder engagement is essential for crafting policies that deliver tangible benefits on the ground. He noted that the Budget would prioritise economic revival, employment generation, sustainable development, and social welfare, keeping regional and sectoral needs in focus.
The stakeholders shared their perspectives on issues such as infrastructure development, ease of doing business, tourism revival, agricultural support, horticulture sustainability, skill development, and higher education reforms. The Chief Minister assured them that their suggestions would be carefully examined and incorporated wherever feasible.
The consultation forms part of a series of pre-Budget engagements being conducted across Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at incorporating grassroots-level feedback and strengthening transparent, accountable governance.
