New Delhi, January 26, 2026 : The rich heritage of Jammu and Kashmir came alive on Kartavya Path as the Union Territory’s tableau captivated audiences during the 77th Republic Day Parade with a vibrant display of its traditional crafts, music and folk art.
The tableau celebrated timeless craftsmanship, featuring intricately engraved samavaars, exquisitely woven Kani shawls, hand-knotted carpets, and finely carved walnut-wood artefacts. Colourful papier-mâché work and Pahari miniature paintings, particularly the iconic Basohli style, highlighted centuries-old artistic traditions nurtured by generations of artisans.
Adding to the visual splendour were saffron blossoms, their purple petals and crimson strands symbolising Kashmir’s deep-rooted cultural identity tied to land, labour and legacy.
The cultural presentation was set to a soulful blend of rabab, santoor and flute, while performers in vibrant traditional attire enthralled spectators with folk dances such as Rouf, Kud, and lively Pahari, Bhadarwahi and Gojri dances—reflecting the region’s diversity, joy and collective spirit.
