JAMMU, January 29, 2026 : In a significant relief to students, the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday announced a 15 per cent syllabus concession for Class 10th, 11th and 12th students of the Summer Zone appearing in the upcoming annual regular board examinations of the Jammu Division.
Government officials confirmed that the decision was taken after reviewing the academic disruptions caused by prolonged spells of inclement weather, flood-like conditions, and the prevailing war-like situation during the previous academic session, which adversely affected regular classes and timely completion of the prescribed syllabus.
“It was decided to allow a 15% syllabus relaxation for Class 10, 11 and 12 students of the Summer Zone in the annual regular examinations of the Jammu Division, keeping in view the exceptional circumstances faced by students last year,” officials said.
The move aims to ensure academic parity and prevent Summer Zone students from being placed at a disadvantage during the board examinations. The concession is expected to ease exam-related stress and provide fair opportunity to students whose studies were disrupted beyond their control.
As per the official examination schedule:
-
Class 10th exams will commence from February 17
-
Class 12th exams will begin on February 23
-
Class 11th exams are scheduled from February 28
Education stakeholders have welcomed the decision, terming it a student-friendly step that acknowledges the ground realities faced during the last academic year.
