Ganderbal, January 30, 2026 : In a strong action against corruption in the Revenue Department, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a serving Patwari in Ganderbal for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe for official work.
According to an official statement, the CBI arrested a Patwari posted at Mouza Gadoora, Ganderbal, while he was accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 from a complainant. The case was registered on January 28, 2026, following allegations that the accused had demanded ₹20,000 for issuing a Jamabandi extract and for rectification of land revenue records.
Acting swiftly, the CBI laid a trap on the same day and caught the accused red-handed while accepting part of the demanded bribe. The Patwari has been arrested, and further investigation in the matter is underway.
The CBI reiterated its firm commitment to curbing corruption and urged citizens to report instances where public servants demand bribes for official work.
