Jammu, February 18, 2026 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday formally moved 13 Demands for Grants and 19 Supplementary Demands in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, which were subsequently presented before the House for discussion by Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.
Moving the demands, the Chief Minister said that the grants seek approval for expenditure during the financial year ending March 31, 2027, covering Demand Nos. 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 14, 19, 20, 24, 31 and 33.
“These Demands for Grants pertain to departments whose charge is held by me,” Omar Abdullah said, adding that the funds are required to defray charges arising in the normal course of government functioning.

In addition, the Chief Minister also moved 19 Supplementary Demands for the ongoing financial year ending March 31, 2026, covering Supplementary Demand Nos. 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 30, 32, 35 and 36.
“These supplementary demands are intended to meet additional expenditure requirements that have arisen during the current financial year,” he informed the House.
As per the legislative schedule, the discussion on the Demands for Grants will continue on February 18 and 19. The Chief Minister is slated to reply to the debate on February 19 afternoon, following which the Demands for Grants will be put to a voice vote for approval by the House.
The presentation of Demands and Supplementary Demands marks a key step in the budgetary process, enabling the government to secure legislative approval for expenditure across crucial governance and development sectors.
