Jammu, February 24, 2026 : In compliance with the directions of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a committee to determine and regulate the transport fee structure for private schools across the Union Territory.
According to an order issued by the Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC), the panel has been formed pursuant to the High Court’s directions in Writ Petition (C No. 10702).

Mandate & Powers

To determine and rationalise transport fees charged by private schools

To co-opt experts and seek assistance from officials with relevant technical and legal expertise

To adopt appropriate procedures for conducting meetings and proceedings
Timeline
The committee has been directed to submit its report within one month from the date of issuance of the order.
The move is aimed at bringing uniformity, transparency and fairness in transport charges, addressing long-standing concerns of parents regarding arbitrary fee hikes by private educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
