Bandipora, March 7, 2026 : Authorities on Saturday suspended vehicular movement on the road connecting Bandipora with Gurez Valley after fresh snowfall at Razdan Pass, officials said.
The decision was taken as a precautionary measure after snowfall made the high-altitude pass slippery and unsafe for traffic.
Mukhtar Ahmad, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Gurez Valley, confirmed that vehicular movement on the Bandipora–Gurez road has been suspended until further orders.
“Due to snowfall at Razdan Top and as a precautionary measure, movement on the Bandipora–Gurez road shall remain suspended till further orders,” the SDM said.
Officials stated that snowfall at the pass reduced visibility and created slippery road conditions, prompting authorities to halt traffic to prevent any untoward incidents.
Located at an altitude of over 11,000 feet, Razdan Pass serves as the main road link between Gurez Valley and the rest of Kashmir Valley through Bandipora district.
The route frequently remains affected during winter due to heavy snowfall and harsh weather conditions. Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored and the road will be reopened once weather conditions improve and snow clearance operations are completed.
