Jammu, March 8, 2026 : Authorities in Jammu have ordered the closure of six spa and massage centres for violating regulatory norms during a special inspection drive conducted across the district, officials said on Sunday.

The action followed a comprehensive inspection campaign ordered by District Magistrate Rakesh Minhas to regulate the functioning of spa and massage centres and ensure compliance with established guidelines.

During the day-long drive on Saturday, inspection teams led by Additional Deputy Commissioners Ansuya Jamwal and Vidhu Shekhar inspected several establishments across the district. Officials said a number of centres were found violating directions issued by the administration.

The establishments served notices include K Crystal Spa, Evergreen Thai Therapy Centre, Touch of Magic, The Bubble Spa, Golden Thai Unisex Spa, and Health Ayurveda Spa and Salon.

According to officials, several violations were detected during the inspections, including:

  • Lack of mandatory undertakings and required documentation

  • Absence of display boards and approved site plans

  • Provision of cross-gender services

  • Door locks installed inside private cabins

  • Failure of staff to produce identity cards

  • Unaccounted payment of employee salaries

  • Non-maintenance of client registers

  • Malfunctioning CCTV cameras

Officials said notices have been issued to the defaulting establishments and further police and legal action may be initiated under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the owners, managers and staff.

District Magistrate Rakesh Minhas reiterated that the administration maintains zero tolerance toward the misuse of commercial establishments for unlawful or immoral purposes.

He also directed all spa and massage centres operating in the district to strictly comply with regulatory norms, warning that violations would lead to immediate closure and prosecution under the law.
