Srinagar, March 23, 2026 : J&K Police on Monday registered an FIR against a hotel in Pahalgam for allegedly concealing the stay of 23 foreign nationals, including 19 British citizens, in violation of legal provisions.
According to officials, during routine checking in the Dehwatoo area of Anantnag district, it was found that the foreign nationals had checked into Hotel Misty Mountains Laddi on the evening of March 22. However, the hotel management failed to inform the authorities about their stay.
Police stated that hotels are mandated to submit the compulsory online Form C to register details of foreign guests. “The hotel management wilfully concealed their stay from Police Station Pahalgam and failed to submit the mandatory Form ‘C’, thereby violating provisions of the Foreigners and Immigration Act 2025 and compromising prescribed security protocols,” the statement read.
Following the violation, an FIR has been registered at Police Station Pahalgam under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities in Anantnag have reiterated the importance of strict compliance with legal requirements, urging all hotel operators to ensure timely reporting of foreign guests to avoid action.
The incident has raised concerns over adherence to security norms in tourist hubs, especially as the region continues to witness an increase in foreign tourist inflow.
