Srinagar, March 25, 2026 : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Wednesday dismissed rumours about a possible lockdown, urging people to remain calm and rely only on official sources for information.
Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Garg clarified that no such decision has been taken by the government. “There are many rumours being spread about a lockdown, but there is no such update. If any decision is taken, it will be officially communicated,” he said.
He assured that essential commodities are adequately stocked and their supply is being closely monitored. “Availability and distribution of essential supplies are being ensured continuously,” he added.
Issuing a warning against misinformation, Garg said strict action would be taken against those spreading rumours and misleading information. He urged the public to follow only official government channels for authentic updates.
On the security front, the Divisional Commissioner said the situation across Kashmir remains stable and under constant review. He noted that regular joint assessments are being conducted by the administration and police.
Highlighting the tourism scenario, Garg said destinations across the Valley are open and witnessing a significant influx of visitors, especially after the opening of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden.
He appealed to tourists to visit Kashmir in large numbers during the spring and summer seasons, assuring that all necessary arrangements are in place for their safety and convenience.
