Srinagar, March 25, 2026 : A live artillery shell discovered near the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district was safely disposed of by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday, officials said.
The shell was found in the Kalgai forest area of Uri, prompting immediate action by local police teams who rushed to the spot, secured the area, and implemented precautionary measures to ensure public safety.
A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team from Baramulla Police was subsequently deployed, which successfully neutralised and disposed of the explosive in accordance with established safety protocols.
Officials confirmed that the operation was carried out without any damage or casualties, highlighting the prompt response and professionalism of the security forces in handling potential threats in sensitive border areas.
