Jammu, March 26, 2026 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has firmly dismissed rumours about a shortage of fuel and essential commodities in Jammu and Kashmir, urging people to remain calm and avoid panic buying.
Addressing the media, Abdullah clarified that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG across the Union Territory. He emphasized that the government has thoroughly reviewed the situation and confirmed that supplies remain stable.
“It is unfortunate that people tend to believe rumours over official statements. There is no shortage, and the situation has remained unchanged,” he said.
Appeal Against Panic Buying
The Chief Minister cautioned that unnecessary rush at fuel stations could create artificial shortages:
- 🚫 Avoid lining up at petrol pumps due to social media rumours
- ⚠️ Panic buying may disrupt normal supply chains
- ⛽ Authorities may temporarily shut pumps if overcrowding continues

Abdullah also noted that the Centre is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring uninterrupted availability of essential commodities across the region and the country.
