Srinagar, March 27, 2026 : A devastating avalanche struck a passenger vehicle at Zojila Pass on Friday, leaving seven people dead and five others injured, officials confirmed.
According to authorities, the vehicle was hit by a massive snow slide, resulting in on-the-spot deaths of seven occupants, while others sustained injuries.
Rescue Operations in Full Swing

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena expressed grief over the incident and directed:
- DC and SSP of Kargil to rush to the site
- Immediate mobilisation of relief and rescue operations
All concerned agencies, including disaster response forces and the Border Roads Organisation, have been placed on high alert.
“I am personally monitoring the situation,” the LG stated.
