New Delhi, March 30, 2026 : National Conference MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party during a discussion in the Lok Sabha, questioning why “institutionalised extremism” against Muslims and minorities is not being addressed.
⚖️ Debate on Extremism
Participating in a debate on eliminating left-wing extremism (LWE), Mehdi argued that:
- Focus should not be limited to one form of extremism
- “Right-wing extremism” must also be discussed
- The country must be free from extremism in all forms
“We want peace, justice, rule of law and normalcy… why is there bias in your approach?” he asked.
🗣️ Strong Allegations
The Srinagar MP alleged:
- Rising incidents of vigilantism
- Calls for economic boycott of Muslims
- Targeting of minorities through narratives like “love jihad”
He questioned:
“When will Hindutva extremism and institutionalised injustice be discussed?”

Mehdi also shared a personal perspective, stating:
- His father was a victim of extremism
- He remains committed to fighting all forms of extremism
- Addressing societal injustice is key to ending radicalisation

Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi emphasized that:

- Parliament must adopt a balanced and inclusive approach
- The fight should be against all forms of extremism, regardless of ideology or community.
