SRINAGAR, April 9, 2026 : Police in Kashmir have attached properties worth over ₹1 crore under the NDPS Act in three separate cases as part of a crackdown on drug trafficking, officials said on Thursday.

Action in Anantnag

In Anantnag district, police attached:

  • A residential house and a car
  • Total value: ₹80 lakh
  • Belonging to alleged drug peddler Imran Ahmad Wani

The action was taken under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act.

Action in Shopian

Police in Shopian carried out two separate attachments:

  • A single-storey residential house worth ₹15.78 lakh, belonging to Mohammad Shafi Khanday
  • An immovable 14-marla property worth ₹10.07 lakh in the Teenz area, belonging to Mohammad Ayoub Dar

Officials stated that both properties were acquired through proceeds from illegal drug trade.

Crackdown on Drug Networks

Police reiterated that such action is part of an intensified drive to dismantle narcotics networks by targeting assets generated through illegal activities.

Conclusion

The attachment of high-value properties underscores the administration’s firm stance against drug trafficking and its focus on dismantling the financial backbone of such operations.
