SRINAGAR, April 9, 2026: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday dismissed a woman employee from service over her alleged involvement in a drug-related case registered under the NDPS Act.
The dismissed official, Shameema Bano, was working as a police follower and had been under suspension since June 2021 after her arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu, in connection with a contraband seizure case.
Departmental Action Taken
Following her arrest, a departmental inquiry was initiated. After completion of the enquiry and due procedures, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, ordered her dismissal from service on April 8, 2026.

District Police Baramulla reiterated its commitment to maintaining professionalism, integrity, and accountability within the force.
Officials stated that any involvement of police personnel in unlawful activities will be dealt with strictly under the law.
