Kochi, April 21, 2026 :  A year after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, the family of N. Ramachandran, one of the 26 tourists, says the grief remains unchanged and the loss still deeply felt.

Ramachandran, a 65-year-old tourist from Kochi, was killed in April 2025 while vacationing with his family in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, in Jammu and Kashmir.

💔 A Family Still in Mourning

His daughter, Arathi R. Menon, who witnessed the attack firsthand, shared her inability to move past the tragedy:

“A year has gone by, everything is the same… I am not in a state to comment.”

Her words reflect the lasting emotional trauma carried by survivors and families affected by the attack.

📍 The Tragic Incident

  • Date: April 22, 2025
  • Location: Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam
  • Victims: 26 people, mostly tourists
  • Ramachandran was traveling with:
    • His wife
    • Daughter
    • Grandchildren

The attack shocked the nation and led to Operation Sindoor, a military response targeting terror infrastructure across the border.

🕯️ Remembrance Ceremonies

To mark the first anniversary:

  • A ceremony will be held by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh near Changampuzha Park, Kochi
  • Additional remembrance gathering scheduled later in the week

🌍 Moving Forward, Carrying the Loss

Menon, who has been staying intermittently in Kochi since the incident, said she plans to return to Dubai permanently, attempting to rebuild life after an irreparable loss.

⚠️ A Lingering Impact

This story highlights:

  • The long-term emotional toll of terrorism
  • The silent suffering of families long after headlines fade
  • The need for continued support and remembrance
