ANANTNAG, May 5, 2026 : Intensifying its campaign against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukhtsar J&K Abhiyan, Anantnag Police achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting a notorious woman drug peddler involved in multiple narcotics cases.
According to officials, a police team from Police Post Dialgam had set up a routine naka checking point at Laalan Bypass. During the operation, a महिला approaching from Bondialgam towards Laalan raised suspicion after attempting to flee upon noticing the police presence. Acting swiftly, the naka party apprehended her on the spot.
During the search, police recovered a contraband substance, suspected to be heroin, from her possession. The accused was later identified as Shugafta Akhter, a resident of Dangerpora in Anantnag district.
Police confirmed that she is a known and wanted drug peddler, already involved in multiple cases under the NDPS Act. Following her arrest, a case (FIR No. 130/2026) has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and further investigation is underway.
Officials described the arrest as a major success in the district’s ongoing anti-drug अभियान, aimed at dismantling narcotics networks and curbing the growing menace of substance abuse.
Reaffirming its commitment, the police stated that such operations will continue with intensified efforts to ensure a drug-free society and safeguard the youth from the dangers of addiction.
