New Delhi, May 14, 2026 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a comprehensive 7,500-page chargesheet against ten accused in connection with the deadly Red Fort area car bomb explosion case that claimed 11 lives and left several others injured in the national capital.
According to officials, the chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court at Patiala House Courts in New Delhi in connection with the high-intensity Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) blast that occurred near the Red Fort area on November 10 last year.
The devastating explosion had triggered panic across the city and caused extensive damage to nearby property and infrastructure.
In an official statement, the NIA said that all ten accused, including the alleged main perpetrator Dr Umer Un Nabi (now deceased), were linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), an offshoot of Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
The agency noted that AQIS and all its manifestations had been designated as terrorist organisations by the Ministry of Home Affairs in June 2018.
According to investigators, the probe uncovered a major alleged Jehadi conspiracy through extensive scientific, digital and forensic investigation. The NIA stated that the accused persons, including several allegedly radicalised medical professionals, were inspired by AQIS/AGuH ideology and had allegedly conspired to execute the deadly terror attack in the heart of the capital.
The chargesheet has been filed under multiple provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Explosive Substances Act 1908, Arms Act 1959 and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act 1984.
The NIA further informed that charges against Dr Umer Un Nabi, a resident of Pulwama and former Assistant Professor of Medicine at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, have been proposed to be abated following his death.
Apart from Dr Nabi, the other accused named in the chargesheet include Aamir Rashid Mir, Jasir Bilal Wani, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather, Dr Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Soyab, Dr Bilal Naseer Malla and Yasir Ahmad Dar.
Officials said the investigation into the wider network, possible support systems and additional linkages connected to the conspiracy remains under progress.
The filing of the voluminous chargesheet marks a major development in one of the most serious terror-related investigations carried out by the NIA in recent years
