JAMMU, May 20, 2026 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday presented appointment letters to newly appointed constables of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and urged them to dedicate themselves to safeguarding the unity, integrity and security of the nation.

Addressing the recruits during the appointment ceremony in Jammu, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the evolving nature of terrorism and law-and-order challenges, stressing the need for constant vigilance and preparedness.

“We must remain constantly alert and vigilant. The nature of law & order threats and terrorism has evolved, demanding unwavering vigilance against threats that often hide in plain sight,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Highlighting the importance of teamwork and coordination among security agencies, Sinha said the challenges faced by Jammu & Kashmir require collective efforts and seamless sharing of information and strategies.

“When we share information, plan strategies and confront the enemy together, we build capacities that no single institution can create alone,” he stated.

The Lieutenant Governor also referred to India’s commitment to peaceful coexistence while pointing to the continued threat of terrorism originating from across the border. He urged the newly inducted constables to stand firmly on the frontline of national security and contribute towards eliminating terror threats from Jammu & Kashmir.

Calling for decisive action against terror ecosystems, Sinha said terrorism survives through funding, networks and support systems, all of which must be identified and dismantled using the full force of law.

He also stressed the importance of traditional policing methods alongside modern technology, stating that beat policing remains highly effective in maintaining law and order and preventing illegal activities.

“Every uniform of the Jammu & Kashmir Police tells a story of courage, commitment and service to the nation. Each time you wear it, remember that you are adding another proud chapter to its legacy,” he told the recruits.

The Lieutenant Governor further commended the Jammu & Kashmir Police for its ongoing anti-drug campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan and praised the force for taking strong action against drug smugglers and peddlers.

“J&K Police has prepared a comprehensive strategy to choke drug smuggling routes completely. The coming days will witness stricter actions and major successes,” he said.

More than 3200 newly recruited constables were inducted into the Jammu & Kashmir Police force during the ceremony.

The event was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, senior police officers, civil administration officials and family members of the recruits.
