Pulwama, 📅 03 July 2026 : In a continued effort to strengthen security and curb unlawful activities in Jammu and Kashmir, Police in Awantipora, Pulwama district, have taken action against a terror associate under the Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978, and a notorious drug peddler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
According to a police spokesperson, the action is part of an ongoing campaign aimed at dismantling networks linked to terrorism and drug trafficking while maintaining law and order in the region.
The terror associate has been identified by police as Suhail Farooq Lone, also known as Sahba, a resident of Lone Mohalla, Nigeenpora Reshipora, Tral. Police stated that he was booked under the Public Safety Act after the competent authority issued formal detention orders in accordance with the provisions of the law.
Officials said the preventive detention was carried out as part of sustained measures to address activities considered a threat to public order and security. Simultaneously, a separate action was taken against a suspected drug trafficker under the PIT-NDPS Act as part of intensified efforts to combat narcotics-related crimes.
Police reiterated their commitment to taking firm legal action against individuals allegedly involved in terrorism, narcotics trafficking, and other activities that threaten public safety. Authorities also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activities.
