Baramulla, Jun 27, 2025: In a major crackdown on subversive activities, police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district have booked three individuals under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) for their alleged involvement in actions prejudicial to the security and sovereignty of the Union Territory.
According to a police spokesperson, the trio—Irfan Mohiuddin Dar of Sangrampora Sopore, Mohammad Asif Khan of Harwan Bomai, and Gowhar Maqbool Rather of Hardushiva—were found to be continuously engaged in anti-national activities despite previous charges under multiple FIRs, including provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The individuals allegedly maintained discreet contact with cross-border terrorist handlers using encrypted VOIP and VPN platforms. They were also involved in radicalizing and motivating local youth to join anti-national activities.
After sustained surveillance and compilation of detailed dossiers, detention orders were issued by the competent authority. All three have been formally detained and shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail, the statement added.
