Jammu, Jun 28, 2025: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Saturday reviewed the security and administrative preparedness for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, emphasizing strict implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and proactive risk mitigation to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Jammu, the DGP engaged with senior officers from the Police, Army, CAPFs, intelligence agencies, and civil administration to evaluate current arrangements and issue strategic directives.
The DGP directed officers to:

Enhance surveillance and threat detection using advanced technologies and real-time monitoring

Deploy anti-sabotage teams along the Yatra routes

Intensify efforts to dismantle terror networks and strengthen the overall security grid
Jammu SSP Joginder Singh presented a comprehensive security plan, highlighting measures at lodgement, registration, and token centres across the district. He also outlined innovative anti-drone initiatives to secure sensitive zones.
Other nodal and sector officers provided briefings on inter-agency coordination and region-specific arrangements for the 38-day Yatra, which begins July 3 from both the 48-km Pahalgam route (Anantnag) and the 14-km Baltal route (Ganderbal), leading to the 3,880-meter-high holy cave shrine.
Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar informed the meeting that 106 lodgement centres have been set up across the Jammu region to accommodate the expected influx of pilgrims. He assured that adequate boarding, lodging, and sanitation facilities are in place.
The first batch of pilgrims will depart from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on July 2, under strict security cover.
