Jammu, July 2, 2025: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday flagged off the first batch of Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims from the Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu, marking the formal start of the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir.
Before the flag-off, LG Sinha offered prayers for the safe and smooth conduct of the Yatra. As the convoy departed, chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ echoed through the camp, reflecting the spiritual fervor of the devotees.
Speaking on the occasion, LG Sinha said the J&K administration, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, and residents of J&K have worked in coordination to provide world-class facilities.
“Since 2022, significant improvements have been made — both routes to the shrine have been widened from six to twelve feet, grid and telecom connectivity have been strengthened, and high-definition cameras now provide 24/7 live monitoring,” he said.
He also highlighted the implementation of an RFID-based tracking system, ensuring enhanced safety and real-time monitoring via the Integrated Command and Control Centre at Raj Bhawan and the Police Control Room.
Pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the arrangements.
“We waited a whole year for this. From food to security, everything is well-managed,” said Shalu, a devotee from the first batch.
Akanksha, another pilgrim, echoed similar sentiments: “We felt no fear. The security and facilities are excellent.”
Suman Ghosh added, “We’re praying for a peaceful Yatra. The presence of the Indian Army and other forces makes us feel secure.”
BJP leader Sat Sharma lauded the atmosphere, stating, “Two months ago, the environment seemed uncertain, but today, we see thousands chanting Baba Bhole’s name with faith and confidence.”
The Yatra is being conducted via the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, with the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway serving as the key link for pilgrims heading to the shrine.
