Jammu, July 2, 2025: Jay Vikas, a 2021-batch IAS officer from Jammu and Kashmir, has taken charge as the first Commissioner of the newly formed Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC) in Assam.
He assumed office on June 9, following his previous role as Co-District Commissioner of North Salmara. His appointment marks a key administrative step in Assam’s efforts to enhance urban governance.
According to an official order, Jay Vikas will also serve as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, Assam.
The posting comes after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s announcement to strengthen DMC by appointing a dedicated full-time IAS officer to lead the corporation and accelerate urban development initiatives.
