Jammu, July 2, 2025: In a security sweep amid the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, Jammu Police arrested a man from a city hotel after he was found in possession of a sharp-edged weapon, officials said on Wednesday.
The arrest took place during a surprise checking operation at Hotel Grand Inn in the Jewel area, part of heightened security measures across the Union Territory.
“In view of the Amarnath Yatra, police are conducting intensified checks across hotels, lodges, and sensitive areas,” a senior police officer said.
During the inspection, a man identified as Gourav Dogra was found carrying a sharp weapon and failed to provide any valid reason for possessing it. He was immediately taken into custody and booked at Nowabad Police Station.
Police said vigilance has been stepped up across Jammu to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims and the general public.
