Gunfight Erupts Between Terrorists and Security Forces in Kishtwar

Jammu, July 2, 2025: A fierce encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Kuchal area of Chatroo, Kishtwar district, on Wednesday evening, officials confirmed.

The operation was launched jointly by the J&K Police, Army, and CRPF following specific intelligence about terrorist presence in the heavily forested region.

“As the security teams began the search, they came under fire from hiding terrorists, triggering a gunfight,” an official said.

The encounter was still underway at the time of reporting. Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area to tighten the cordon and ensure the terrorists are neutralized.

The situation remains tense, and operations are being conducted with utmost caution due to the challenging terrain.
