Bhaderwah, July 22, 2025: High-altitude destinations in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir are safe for tourists and pilgrims, with Army personnel securing all key mountain peaks, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Mehta.
Speaking to reporters, SSP Mehta said a comprehensive security plan is in place to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of over 70 major and minor pilgrimages that either originate from or culminate in the district’s higher reaches.
“Tourist footfall in Doda is steadily increasing. The Army is dominating key high-altitude zones, and we have mapped all pilgrimage routes for effective security deployment,” he said.
Pilgrimages such as Kailash Yatra, Manimahesh Yatra, and Machail Yatra are among those scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. Mehta confirmed that CRPF and other paramilitary forces have been deployed across all key routes, with responsibilities assigned to senior officers to ensure seamless coordination.
Acknowledging past terror incidents, the SSP stated that security agencies are on high alert and working in synergy to pre-empt any threat. He added that drone threats, although currently not reported in Doda, are being closely monitored.
“We have no current reports of terrorist drone activity in the district, but anti-drone systems are in place. Residents of high-altitude areas are urged to report any suspicious aerial activity immediately,” he added.
The police have assured that all necessary measures are in place to ensure both safe pilgrimage experiences and a secure environment for tourists exploring the scenic mountains of Doda.
