JAMMU, July 28, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the inaugural ceremony ‘Navarambh’ at IIT Jammu on Monday, welcoming the new batch of BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD students.
Congratulating the students on the beginning of their academic journey, the LG praised IITs for their pivotal role in nation-building and global scientific progress. “Science and technology will be the driving force of Viksit Bharat, and the nation expects IITians to lead this transformation,” he said.
Highlighting India’s growing tech ecosystem, Sinha said today’s graduates have better opportunities at home than abroad. “With your talent and commitment, India will emerge as a global hub for innovation,” he noted.
Calling upon students to address global challenges and prepare for a dynamic future, the LG also urged IIT faculty to expand research in national priority areas and align engineering education with real-world problems.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, Sinha underscored India’s technological might in modern warfare. “It’s time to innovate in cybersecurity, AI warfare, and next-gen communication. The era of conventional conflict is behind us,” he asserted.
He encouraged IITians to take the lead in tech startups, AI, automotive, space, energy, and environmental innovation.
On the occasion, LG Sinha launched four new academic programs and praised IIT Jammu for its forward-thinking curriculum. These include:

Predictive Analytics – to transform industries and governance with data-driven forecasting.

Engineering Physics – blending theory with real-world application to drive innovation in product design and pharmaceuticals.

M.Tech in Tunnel and Structural Engineering – focused on delivering global-standard solutions for infrastructure challenges, especially in Himalayan regions like J&K.
The event was attended by IIT Jammu Director Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, SMVDU VC Prof. Pragati Kumar, senior officials, faculty members, and students.
